Skinning

Modifying the appearance of the showtag layer

Skinning is a concept where you are able to control of how the programme looks to the viewers, by creating a your own design.

So how does it work?

Well the very basic concept is that instead of just one CSS file that governs every style and design/positioning element of the Showtag Enabled elements, you create a seperate CSS file which will style the programme a different way. Each programme has the option to load a custom design. Designs can be re-used for multiple programmes without any adjustment. Basicllay the design is swapped for another and the programme appears to have been instantly redesigned. (the actual content remains the same, but the way it is presented (colours, fonts, structual images) can be swapped each time a new design is selected (CSS file is loaded.)

You need to have basic knowledge of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets is a style sheet language used for describing the presentation of a document written in a markup language like HTML. CSS is a cornerstone technology of the World Wide Web, alongside HTML and JavaScript). With some basic knowledge you are already able to create a completely new experiance. For advanced uses of CSS, you can do amazing things including animations that interact directly on the user input. If you are interested to learn CSS, there is some good information out there to get started, as example: WS3Schools
